double strap booties for eric's lad

eric's baby shower is friday and his boy is getting these double strap booties in colours borrowed from eric's artwork. both colours are from vanna white's collection and i especially like the grey marble. such a great nubbly yarn full of hairs and weirdness--just like eric!
this is actually my 4th completed pair of double straps. for nearly a whole month they stood almost finished--except for the buttons. i had to give them a long break after they made me rip them apart and redo the straps. but now, they are done and i am giving this pattern a rest.

OMGWTFFROG

my current project was half done, when i happened to view the piece from an distance and catch that i made a huge mistake 10 inches ago. it is a subtle crochet texture, so i didn't catch it right away...but there it was: one stitch off. i knew i couldn't live with it, but man, it is so hard to bring oneself to undo all that TIME invested. i discussed it with some knitters at work and decided to start a whole new one first, and then when i felt happy with that one, i could more easily frog the other and feel clean and righteous!

so far, it looks perfect!
go, clean-righteous snakey, go!

*i promise i will post a pic when it is done. :)

my metallic yarn project

i hate the yarn i picked. hate, hate, hate it. i brought it to the theater for HBP, thinking i would crochet waiting for the midnight showing, but i pulled the project out and the whole damn thing was knotted beyond belief. that was not the first time i had to spend long useless amounts of time trying to control this yarn. so, i tried another today. absolutely horrid. far worse than the first. now i am switching to vanna's glamour yarn which is really just cream shot with gold. it does not look golden enough to work for my project.

the frustrations i have had with this project have made me nearly abandon it. hiss.

---

the other project i am working on is a little doll made of that crazy eyelash yarn that was all the rage a few years ago. i had the body sorted after 2 tries, and whipped up little arms and legs, but putting them on made me realize i needed to do things in a different order. alas. i must redo it. more hiss.

---

oh, and i FINALLY got a call about my superwash cascade yarn for my snakey scale scarf. WTF? it took 2 months to show up. i still haven't picked it up, however.

redo on the scarf

Well, I tossed out the first scarf. No, seriously, I threw it out just inches from being finished. It was just so unpleasant and scratchy! I picked up some new wool and silk yarn from JoAnn's and started all over. I love this new fresh green!
